ARTURART is a counter insurgency group fighting the repression of laughter in Art.
ARTURART takes many forms; galleries, public lectures, public daubings, pranks, and political decoy.
The leader of this brave new movement is Arthur Smith. Formerly known only as a semiprofessional comedian, Smith has undertaken to dedicate his life to the pursuit of comedy through Art. But although Smith is the mastermind and creative powerhouse his cohorts are legion and include a great number of comedian interns; Stewart Lee, Simon Munnery, Tim Vine and Harry Hill to name but a few, as well as a vast network of labourers/painters, translators, and cooks.
ARTURART made it's debut, in gallery form, at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe, where it was awarded the if.comedy panel prize; The biggest prize in international comedy. Backs were slapped and cheques were cashed and ARTURART marched boldly sideways. ARTURART returns to the Fringe in 2008 with a brand new gallery and a special one off lecture on ARTURART History. Neither are to be missed.
None of this would be possible of course without the continued support of our enigmatic patron, Mr G. And ARTURART, in all it's forms, is produced by Zoo Logic.
